I wanted to encourage you in the Lord! I was talking to someone yesterday who said, “life has changed almost overnight!” In some ways, that is true. Our freedom of access has been restricted. Our financial outlook has gone from upbeat to, at best, insecure. Many are concerned for their families, for their jobs, for their health, and even for their future. I get it! My family and I feel some of those same things.

But with all this shifting sand, there is still a rock I want to point you to … It the rock of God’s Word. Let’s not forget God’s promises:

Matthew 28:20 “Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”‘

Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

This may not be a good time for a Chief’s illustration, but then again, there’s never a bad time for a Chief’s example, right! These times remind men when Patrick Mahomes first came to KC. All the scouts were unsure about his future. They all knew Patrick had bad football fundamentals and needed to work on his technique and footwork if he was going to be successful.

So with the help of his quarterback coach, Alex Smith, and of course, Andy Reid … Patrick focused on improving his footwork, and it has sure paid off! I mean, look at all he achieved!!!

One thing I’ve realized that during times of plenty, I too can get a little fuzzy with life fundamentals. In times of struggle and change, I realize that I’ve got to work on my life skills because I’ve let my faith-foot work get a little sloppy. Times of uncertainty reminds me to get back to the basics of trusting God and work on my spiritual form. Truth is, sometimes we get lazy and put our trust in our talent, our money, our health, our government, ourselves, and we don’t have enough zip or accuracy with our faith. Then something like the Coronavirus comes along and shows us how off-balance and out of whack we are with our faith in God.

Truth is, God is the only solid thing we have in life. Relationships come and go, the stock market goes up and down, jobs change, the economy expands, and contracts, the lifestyle we find comfortable is not guaranteed. Our health and world are far more vulnerable than we realize. As a kid, I grew up singing the song, “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand” … the last line continues, “all other ground is sinking sand!”

During this time of change and social reduction, it is a great time to get back on track with God. His word is filled with great peace, sound advice, and an amazing perspective. Why not let God be your shelter during this Coronavirus storm?

Why not watch the service on Facebook with a friend, or encourage a friend to watch Sunday’s service with you, and you can chat about it. The theme this Sunday, and all the way through Easter, is Come Home. I think it’s time for us to Come Home to God. I think it’s time for us to make God #1 in our life. I think it’s time to work on our spiritual footwork!  Please join us for service the next two Sundays online at 10 am Sunday. Just go to our Pointe of Hope Facebook Live! Hope to see you then!

Keep Trusting!
