Learning from John the Baptist: You Were Created for Today

KEY POINTS:

  1. God’s Providential Plan
  2. Accepted Our God-Given Uniqueness
  3. Preparing the Way

Questions to Stir Discussion:

When you hear the first Christmas songs of the season, what is your reaction? Joy, Dread, Excitement, Anxiety? Why is that?

Who is it, or what is it, that helps you prepare mentally and spiritually for Christ’s coming at Christmas?

Why do you think we spend so much time trying to “fit in” rather than, like John the Baptist, to function the way God has designed and commanded us? I wonder, are we spending
more time trying to be or to please someone else rather than being who God has made us to be?

How does knowing that people came from all over Jerusalem into the heart of the desert to see and hear John and to be baptized affect how you share your faith today? (note that there
was little water, food, or shade)
Why are we scared and on the defensive with our FAITH story, when instead we could be on the offense and give others help and God the glory?
